I have been going to Covenhoven for the last 10 years, and during that time, I’ve watched the beer industry evolve alongside this bar. One of the things I appreciate most is how Covenhoven embraces change. Every season brings a fresh theme, adding new energy to the space. Trivia nights, hosted by Watson for most of the past decade, have been a highlight, fostering a lively and welcoming community vibe.
Covenhoven has a rhythm that I’ve grown to enjoy. Most of the time, it’s my go-to spot for a great beer and a relaxed atmosphere. Sometimes it’s filled with teachers unwinding, other times with parents and strollers, and occasionally with brewers and beer enthusiasts. The crowd is always unique, and I appreciate that this inclusivity allows everyone to enjoy a little downtime and a well-deserved drink.
Over the years, the bar has truly become a haven for locals. The craft beer selection, both on tap and in cans, is always top-notch, showcasing the latest and greatest from the ever-evolving craft beer scene. Whether you're a seasoned beer lover or just exploring, there’s something for everyone here.
One of the most distinctive aspects of Covenhoven is its décor, which transforms with the seasons, keeping the space dynamic and fresh. This ever-changing atmosphere pairs beautifully with their standout food offerings—grilled cheese, pretzels, and sausages. The food is fantastic on its own, but when you add the charm of the backyard seating area, it becomes a perfect place to unwind.
Covenhoven isn’t just a bar; it’s a community hub with something special for everyone. Whether it’s the rotating seasonal themes, the camaraderie of trivia nights, or the comfort of great food and drink, it’s a place that has consistently evolved while preserving the things that make it special. It’s more than just a place to grab a pint—it’s a space to connect, relax, and create lasting memories.

NYCThirst is the bar culture guide for the five boroughs of New York City. We have a detailed page for every drinking establishment in New York City. Our job is to give the user the best information we can gather about a drinking establishment.
We plan on being a hyper local business forward website. If you have trivia night, we would like to tell our users about it. If you have a drink special, our user will want to know. If you get the latest craft brew, we will tell people about it. A daily update of what is going on in bar culture in the five boroughs will appear on our site.
